EVERY MINISTER WILL TELL YOU, THEY WANT A HEALTHY CHURCH. A church’s health is based on many things. Not one thing can bring about a healthy church nor can one single person causes a church to be healthy. I believe there are 6 characteristics to a healthy church. I will highlight these characteristics in my next 3 blog post in a series entitled “A healthy church is…”.
1. A healthy church is Biblical.
If any sin in the local church can be considered “the worse”, I believe it is that we are not biblical. A healthy church is biblical. Its leaders teach the scriptures in a bold and convicting manner. A healthy church allows scripture to be the bases of all of its functions and programs. There is nothing that it does that isn’t grounded in scripture. The Bible is the beginning and end of all that the church does. If the Bible is not our foundation, then there is no possible way for a church to exist in a healthy and vibrant way.
2. A healthy church is Honest.
Honesty is a lost quality in our world today. If any group of people sound find honesty the most important and vital thing, it should be the church. We must be honest with ourselves and each other. We must admit our sin to the world. We must let go of our pride and allow the world to see that we are just as much sinners in need of a savior as they are. We are nothing without Christ. We must accept that fact and embrace it. We must let down our wall and let go of our attitude that we are better than another. We must be honest.
