I know most of you think that I am a hypocrite because I haven't posted in a few days, but life is busy with school and serving at Greer First Baptist. I apologize for being a slacker, but sometimes that happens.
As normal, I was working at church today. I normally work on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Today was not different. I arrived at Greer First around 11:30. After sending an e-mail to Brittny about something she is working on for me, I began the list of things that I needed to do today. So, I began to do the work and then took off for lunch around 12:30. I decided that I wanted some good Hash on Rice so I went to Mutts BBQ. As I was driving around Greer and down the roads that leads to Mutts. I saw several churches, of all denominations, line the streets of Greer and I began to think.
"What makes Greer First Baptist different than these other churches? What makes the people of the Greer area, who seek authentic biblical community, come to First Baptist?"
Now, this isn't a blog to talk in a negative way about Greer First. This is just my mind. Of course, this is my mind for all churches. What are we doing to make our churches the best that we can for GOD'S GLORY. No matter if we like it or not, we have to have big events. We have to be better than somebody else. There is competition. Maybe that shouldn't be the way it is, but it's how it works. So, what are we doing in a way that glorifies God?

I hope we're all about love..and when we love others in a way that pleases the Lord, there will be a definite difference..if we don't get too busy with events and functions to miss out on biblical fellowship! I always hope to represent Christ in everything I do and unfortunately, I fail, but if I can love others like him, then they will hunger for that love!
Andrew,
Another good post. I think I will have to disagree with one thing though. No matter what type of church you are and in any area, you do not have to have big events. You don't have to be better at doing "stuff" than everyone else.
If we love and exalt Christ, and truely love each other out of a spirit of unity, then God will bring more people to your church than you could ever imagine. The problem is what I just said is very difficult to have and even more difficuly substain.
